About Walker Smith IV
Walker is is a hard working Florida Man whose ancestry is Lenni Lenape (Delaware) Indigenous American on his mother’s side mixed with Irish American on his father’s side. He was raised by a hard working single father, who after hearing Cats and the Cradle one too many times, decided to leave his corporate job, and became a waiter at TGI Friday’s, sacrificing everything to move to Florida, where his family was, to raise Walker through High School Graduation and College. Pops tremendous work ethic and family values have been instilled in Walker and are his guiding light posts in his interactions with others, and his empathetic approach to life. He was raised in Vero Beach, FL primarily in the Gifford area, before moving to Orlando for College and he grew up witnessing what he considered to be abuse of discretion and abuse of authority by people in positions of power, especially the local police against poor communities and communities of color. This instilled in Walker a desire for real equality, for equity, which has driven him forward to forge a better world, to try and understand and communicate with people of all cultures, because the more inclusive we are, the more we see one another as human beings, the harder it is to trick us into divisions. He believes that true strength comes from our mutual understanding of on another, not our ability to dominate one another.
The loss of his father in 2017 was one of the hardest challenges Walker has had to overcome, which taught him to treasure and value the limited time we have on this earth, and especially to hold dear those closest to you, it also taught him to focus on things that are within our control, like our priorities, and where we put our energy. After returning from a stint abroad, in Jamaica to scatter Pop’s ashes, and to China to teach children English, Walker returned to the states, attended FSU Law School, where he graduated in April of 2021, passing the FL Bar and becoming an attorney in September of 2021. He has since rekindled his relationship with his mother, who lives in South Carolina, and is presently battling a health crisis of her own, which has opened Walker’s eyes to one of the greatest hardships that hit many families in recent times, the rising insurmountable medical costs associated with necessary care, which often times ends up delayed or denied by insurance companies treating what is designed to be a service as a for profit industry. Helping his mother through her medical journey was actually what made Walker realize how directly impacted he was by the poor decision-making coming from the Trump regime which seems intentionally designed to hurt or kill the most vulnerable Americans. Walker firmly believes that allowing corporate interests to become too large and commandeering the voices and levers of power is at the heart of many of our systemic societal problems (environmental, economic, and societal), and wants to fight to take that control back for the people, starting with the local government, so that people, and our shared prosperity and sustainability are valued over corporate profits.
Walker has since moved to the Milk District in Downtown Orlando, and opened his own full service Trial Law Firm focused on Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injury, Employment law and Civil Rights, LegalSmiths Consulting Group in Altamonte Springs, which has been up and running since April of 2024. He is personally suing Ron DeSantis through a Writ of Prohibition to shut down the Everglades Internment Camp, based on several legal theories of DeSantis lacking any authority to open or operate the internment camp. Despite running his solo practice, he still makes time to stay involved in a number of local organizations and planning local community events and protests in conjunction with local rights and advocacy groups, to canvass for local progressive politicians, and to stay engaged in his community, speaking at board meetings, and bringing lawsuits against corrupt officials. Now he wants to bring his energy, his fight, and his empathetic forward looking perspective to district three, to be your voice for Orange County.
About the Election
Orange County recently voted to amend the current districts and in addition to adding new districts, District 3 got some new borders. This is the new and updated map for District 3, beginning in 2026. Some of you may be wondering if the race is officially in 2028, why is the campaign starting in 2026? Well… current District 3 incumbent, Myra Uribe, has announced her intention to run for Mayor to replace Jerry Demings, who will be termed out, and in order to run, she is required to resign from her current seat. Once she does, this will trigger a special election, which will take place in November of 2026. Once the Special Election is announced, the funds raised from the initial campaign, can be used for the special election to the same position. So if you’re in the Blue Area, we want to hear form you! Even if you’re not in the Blue area, anyone from anywhere in Orange County can sign the Petition to get Walker on the Ballot. Anyone in Florida can donate to the campaign, a maximum of $1,000.00 per person with a fundraising goal of $100,000.00. The campaign understands not all money is good money, we do have a preference for individual and local small business donations and we also pledge to reject and return any AIPAC donations we identify. Regardless, no amount of lobbying or donation will guarantee Walker will vote or act in a specific way on any specific issue, he will always strive to listen to the community, enact their will and act in their best interest, regardless of campaign contributions or support during the campaign.
